Many of the West Indian islands will be celebrating their independence during the first week of August in the Greater Hartford area. To kick off the event, they will be celebrating their heritage by honoring the community and the City of Hartford with the New England Music Festival.
The New England Music Festival was created to enhance the celebration of the West Indian heritage and provide families within the community and surrounding areas an opportunity for fun, food and music.
Created by Megatech and Solar Entertainment, it is anticipated to be New England's premier annual music festival. An all day event with fun, food and music catering to the entire family. We anticipate over 100 accrtedited media members with representatives from all over the U.S. and the New England area.
The event is being promoted by Ardie "Cuban" Wallace of Under One Umbrella Entertainment, the festival will be on August 1, 2009 at the Bushnell Park in downtown Hartford, CT.
The inaugural festival looks to please everyone with performances by Beres Hammond an Tarrus Riley. Throw in Ray, Goodman & Brown, the Chilites and it's a ladies night to remember. On the dancehall side features the Gully God Movado, Bounty Killer, Duane Stephenson, Macka Diamond and much more. With an emphasis to please everyone, the Soca Queen Alsion Hinds and Hip Hop artist Fat Joe and you'll have a day to remember. Other performances include legendary King Yellowman, Brigadier Jerry, Culture and Demus Family.
The New England Music Festival will also feature a special segment with the roster artiste fo Capsicum Records backed by the Paco-Capsicum All Star Band.
With such a diverse line up, the New England Music Festival is expecting well over 10,000 music lovers.

The "Hartford Belle" is a beautiful 49-passenger riverboat - reminiscent of simpler times. She has a mahogany-trimmed enclosed cabin, but we like to keep the windows open to enjoy the warm summer breezes.
The riverboat provides a peaceful ride along the Connecticut River. There is ample seating or you can stand on the bow to get the best views of your trip along the majestic Connecticut River. It is not uncommon to see great blue herons, red-tailed hawks and an occasional bald eagle.
The Belle offers sightseeing cruises, happy hour cocktail cruises, and cruises for corporate gatherings, birthday parties, weddings, and any other special event. The Belle runs from May to October. The cruises leave from Charter Oak Landing or Riverfront Plaza in Hartford.

So I've started watching the new reality show called I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here and it has been very intresting. I enjoy watching it but something that shocked me was that some of the famous stars don't even know each other, because you'd think that famous celebrities only have a bunch of celebrity friends. But the show has brought some of them closer together at some points, and tore others apart at some times. It's drama all the time. I don't vote, I just enjoy tuning in every time to keep up with the show and see what's going to happen next and what trials the show is going to come up with for them. My favorite part is when the show surprises the campers and audience with a new guest. I like the new guest Holly, Heidi's sister and Spencer Pratt's sister-in-law. (: Does anyone else watch this show?
